Relationships Group Therapy
What will this group be about?
Relationships can be messy and stressful for many people. It is not uncommon for some of us to fall into pieces when a relationship breaks down. Often we do not understand the reasons or what has gone wrong. This group will tackle relationship issues head on and help members openly share their experience in a safe and supportive environment with experienced group therapists.
Relational group aims to develop greater self-reflection and awareness about the ways in which one relates to others. ‘Why would I do it in a group?’ you may ask. Your interaction in a group is often a reflection of how you relate in the world and with others. With the help of experienced facilitators in a very confidential setting, group interactions over a period can be an invaluable tool for empowering yourself relationally.
Who is this group for?
It is for anyone who feels the need to have greater understanding of the way he or she relates to others.
It is for anyone who wants to grow in their ability to relate to others in an intimate relationship. This can be with family, friends or colleagues.
If you feel intimidated or shy and you freeze instead of asserting yourself, then you may find this group helpful.
If you struggle to be sexually intimate with your partner because of anxiety or fear that you’re not good enough, then this group will help you identify the underlying issues.
If you avoid social contact or relating to family, friends or colleagues, come and explore how you could change this.
If you constantly feel bored in your intimate relationships and keep changing your partners, come and talk about it; you may find the group helpful.
How big is the group?
There will be no more than 10 people.
How much does it cost?
The cost of each session is £20 per person.
What is the length of the sessions and for how long?
It will run on Monday evenings.
Group therapy requires time commitment, so ideally you will join on the first day and will attend all the sessions. If you are unsure whether you will be able to be there for at least 80% of the time, you may want to consider placing your name on the waiting list and joining a different group at a later stage.
Who facilitates the sessions?
The sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Shibu Karippai.
